Terms & Conditions

CONTACT PERSON

The person making the booking is responsible for advising the Custodian of any incidents that occur during their group's stay.

You will not be charged for any accidental breakages or normal wear and tear, but we do ask that you always treat our Paa, inclusive of all facilities, with care and respect.

You may incur charges to replace any equipment/items that are not accounted for and/or the cost to repair or replace any items returned in a damaged condition.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • If you are feeling unwell, or have flu-like symptoms, please stay home.

  • If you identify a hazard, please inform the Custodian or Booking Officer.

  • First Aid Kits and Fire Extinguishers are located in the wharenui and wharekai.

  • An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is located in a cabinet attached to the courtyard wall opposite kitchen. Pin code to open cabinet can be obtained by calling 111.

  • The evacuation assembly point is at the carpark (grassed area) directly opposite waharoa.

  • Speed limit is 10km/h at all times.

SUPERVISION OF TAMARIKI (CHILDREN)

The Paa Trustees and Paa Kōmiti (Committee) aim to provide a safe environment for tamariki/children, it is the responsibility of your group to ensure their safety.

Please be aware that the Puniu Awa is a significant water hazard as it flows adjacent to the Paa.

PAA UP-KEEP DURING STAY

During your stay, you are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the complex, and all equipment used.  Please refer to the Cleaning Checklist.

Prior to your group’s departure, all areas will be checked by the Custodian.

Please do not be offended if you are asked to repeat a task.

EQUIPMENT

Mangatoatoa Paa Custodian maintains an inventory of stock and equipment for use during your stay. Any items missing at the end of your stay will be charged to your group, so please endeavour to notify the Bookings Officer/Custodian of any issues regarding equipment.

Please note: NO EQUIPMENT/ITEMS ARE TO LEAVE THE PAA

Please bring your own containers for any left-over kai to take away with you at the completion of your kaupapa.

GAS BOTTLES

Gas bottles should be full when you arrive at the Paa. No individual is authorised to remove gas bottles.

PROHIBITIONS

PŪNIU RIVER CARE NURSERY

Unless pre-arranged and approved by the Nursery Manager, visits to the Puniu River Care Nursery are not permitted.

NO ALCOHOL OR ILLICIT SUBSTANCES

Alcohol or illicit substances are not permitted on Paa grounds. Failure to adhere to this tikanga of the Paa will result in the offending party (and possibly the group - at the discretion of Paa Trustees Kōmiti) being asked to leave. It may also jeopardise any future use of the Paa. Intoxicated/disorderly persons arriving at the Paa will be asked to leave.

NO DOGS/ANIMALS

Dogs (other than guide-dogs) and other animals are not permitted on Paa grounds.

GANG PATCHES/INSIGNIA

Gang patches or insignia are not permitted anywhere at Mangatoatoa Paa.

SMOKING/VAPING

Smoking/vaping is only permitted in the designated area, which is located in the courtyard adjacent to the kāuta. It is your responsibility to ensure that the members of your group only smoke/vape in the designated area.

CLEANING

SEPARATE CLEANING EQUIPMENT

Please note that there are separate colour coded brooms and mops/buckets for the ablution blocks and Wharekai.

  • Blue - Bathrooms

  • Yellow - Kitchen

  • Green – Dining Hall

CLEANING & HYGIENE SUPPLIES

·        All cleaning supplies are to be supplied by your group.

·        The Paa supplies a base stock of toilet paper, but you must bring an adequate supply to last your stay.

·        Tea towels are supplied; please wash, and dry and return to the kitchen. (There is a washing machine and dryer (for tea towels only) located in the kāuta.

LAUNDRY SERVICES

There are no laundry facilities available at the Paa.  Nearest facility for personal laundry is Liquid Laundromat, 168 George Street, Te Awamutu 3800. Open 24hrs 7 days a week.

Washing Machine and Dryer located in kāuta are available for tea towels only.

Maihi on the west side

RUBBISH REMOVAL

All rubbish, including food scraps and recycling, must be removed at the end of your stay. Te Awamutu Refuse Transfer Station is located at 2 Daphne Street, Te Awamutu - Open Monday - Saturday (inclusive) 8am – 4pm.  Please make sure you have an adequate supply of rubbish bags to last throughout your stay.

A private contractor is available to supply wheely-bins and remove rubbish. Should you require this service, please advise when making your booking.

ACCOMMODATION

Mangatoatoa Paa can sleep up to 100 people in the wharenui and seat up to 200 people in the wharekai.

Mattresses are stored up on the Te Maru O Ihoa mezzanine floor and must be returned and stacked neatly after use. Please ensure that Tamariki/children do not jump or play on the mattresses.

You will need to supply your own linen, pillows and blankets.

CATERING

We are unable to offer a catering service at this time.

Tables, chairs, and bench seats are stored at the eastern end wall of wharekai (dining hall) and must be returned and stacked neatly at the end of your stay.

TANGIHANGA

Tangihanga takes precedence over all other kaupapa, so in the event your booking is cancelled you will either need to postpone your kaupapa to the next available date/s, or find an alternative venue.
